The Cutty Sark Exhibition of Figureheads
"Richard and his team have done an excellent job in conserving and cleaning the figureheads in preparation for exhibition, and we are really excited about how this display is shaping up.
This is the first time that the Long John Silver Collection will be seen in its entirety at Greenwich and Richard Rogers has been crucial in realising the Cutty Sark Trust's ambition to showcase the collection in the new Sammy Ofer Gallery, under Cutty Sark.
The collection – the largest collection of Merchant Navy figureheads in the world - is a memorial to the Merchant Navy, as is Cutty Sark herself, and once completed will be a fitting tribute to the merchant ships of the 19th and 20th centuries, the lifeblood to the British Isles.
The figureheads are currently in
the process of being installed and
promise to create an impressive
display with lots of impact!"
